El amor y el odio: "Can't stand me now"

Desde un principio, no se llevaron del todo bien. Sin embargo, la dupla Carl Bârat-Pete Doherty logró juntarse, pese a la personalidad particularmente autodestructiva de Doherty, con John Hassall (bajista) y Gary Powell (batería) para formar The Libertines, grupo de corta trayectoria y de efímera fama a principios de este siglo.
Fueron tantos los problemas que luego Bârat –quien estudiaba con la hermana de Pete, Amy-Jo– y Doherty tuvieron que tomar rumbos distintos: Carl formó Dirty Pretty Things y Doherty, Babyshambles. Pero las drogas y Kate Moss significaron para Pete Doherty más apariciones por escándalos en los tabloides que por calidad de su música.
Aunque aún hoy Babyshambles y DPT siguen existiendo, se rumorea que sería posible un regreso de la banda. Esperemos que con un Pete desintoxicado.
Esta canción, cantada a dúo, más parece que está dedicada del uno para el otro, pues tanto se quieren estos muchachos que casi no se pueden ver. Así es el amor.
